Certification Engineer (EMC, ESD, Regulatory)
You will own regulatory compliance for the platform — EMC, safety, energy and regional approvals — from design-for-compliance input through test labs to shipping certificates. You are not a paperwork function: you shape the design early so the product passes the first time.
What you will work on:
EMC and safety certification for a rack-scale AI compute platform
Regional market approvals: FCC, CE/UKCA, IC, VCCI, KC, CCC and others as markets require
Design-for-compliance review of boards, enclosure, cabling and power distribution
Pre-compliance testing in-house, and full compliance campaigns with external labs
Certification documentation, technical files and declarations of conformity
Responsibilities:
Strategy & planning: Define the certification plan per market and per SKU, including standards applicable, test scope, lab selection and schedule. Own the compliance milestones in the programme plan.
Design input: Review schematics, layout, enclosure, shielding, grounding and cable design against EMC and safety requirements before they are committed. Drive corrective action when pre-compliance shows a problem.
Test execution: Run in-house pre-compliance scans — radiated and conducted emissions, immunity, ESD — and manage full campaigns at accredited labs through to passing results.
Safety & standards: Own product safety compliance to IEC/EN/UL 62368-1, including creepage and clearance, energy sources, touch temperature and fire enclosure requirements.
Documentation & cross-functional: Maintain technical files, test reports, declarations and markings. Work with mechanical, power and hardware teams on fixes, and with suppliers on component certifications.
Requirements:
6+ years in regulatory compliance and certification for electronic hardware, ideally IT or datacentre equipment
Hands-on EMC test experience: radiated and conducted emissions, immunity, ESD, and the debug that follows a failure
Working knowledge of IEC/EN/UL 62368-1 and the relevant EMC standards (CISPR 32/35, FCC Part 15)
Experience managing external test labs and full certification campaigns to schedule
Able to read schematics and layout and give concrete design-for-compliance feedback
Comfortable owning technical files, declarations and market-entry documentation
Nice to Have:
High-current or high-voltage DC power distribution compliance
Liquid-cooled equipment safety considerations
Energy efficiency and environmental regulation: ErP, Energy Star, RoHS, REACH, WEEE
Experience with hyperscale or OCP-style deployments and their customer-specific requirements
Familiarity with wireless or telecom approvals, if applicable to the platform
