Hardware Bring-Up Engineer
You will take the first silicon from power-on to a working system — the first to touch new boards, the one who decides what is actually broken, and the person the whole hardware team depends on during the weeks that matter most. Hands-on lab role with wide cross-functional reach.
What you will work on:
First power-on and bring-up of a multi-die AI accelerator board
Debug and triage across power, clocks, reset, boot, high-speed interfaces and firmware
Lab infrastructure: test benches, instrumentation, fixtures and automation
Characterisation and margin testing on real silicon
Rack-scale system integration and multi-node bring-up
Responsibilities:
Bring-up execution: Own the power-on sequence, voltage and clock checks, reset and boot flow, and the first interface links to train. Write and maintain the bring-up checklist and run it on every new build.
Debug & triage: Isolate failures across hardware, firmware and software, and route them to the right owner with evidence. Use scopes, logic analysers, protocol analysers, JTAG and on-die telemetry to localise root cause.
Lab ownership: Build and maintain test setups, fixtures and instrumentation. Automate repetitive measurement and data collection so results are reproducible across boards and builds.
Characterisation: Run margin, shmoo and corner testing on power rails, clocks and high-speed interfaces. Feed measured data back to SI, PI, power and design teams.
Cross-functional: Work closely with design, firmware, validation and manufacturing. Support board respins with clear failure analysis, and hand off stable platforms to validation and production test.
Requirements:
5+ years bringing up complex digital boards — server, networking, ASIC/FPGA platforms or comparable
Proven first-silicon or first-board bring-up experience, start to working system
Strong lab skills: oscilloscopes, logic and protocol analysers, power measurement, JTAG and debug interfaces
Able to read schematics, layout and datasheets, and reason about what the board should be doing
Experience debugging across the hardware/firmware boundary, including boot and sequencing issues
Python scripting for test automation, instrument control and data analysis
Nice to Have:
High-speed interface bring-up: PCIe, DDR/LPDDR, Ethernet or SerDes link training and margining
BMC, firmware or embedded Linux familiarity
Experience with rack-scale or multi-node system integration
Rework and board-level repair skills
Exposure to automated or AI-assisted lab and test flows
